The essential elements for growth
There are 16 essential elements that plants require for healthy growth and development.
Three of these are directly absorbed from the atmosphere: oxygen (O), carbon (C) & hydrogen (H).
The remaining elements are taken up by the plant through the roots. These elements are traditionally contained within the soil, but are prone to depletion and often require fertiliser supplementation.
In a hydroponic system, these elements are dissolved in liquid nutrients making them highly bioavailable for plant uptake.
Nutrifield base nutrients include each of the 13 essential elements at optimised ratios, to ensure that plants receive the nutrients they need.
